The Southeast Colorado Hospital District (SECHD) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Anthony Brocato as its new Chief Executive Officer. An accomplished healthcare executive with more than 20 years of dual financial and operational leadership experience, Dr. Brocato steps into the role with a deep commitment to the sustainability and growth of rural healthcare.Dr. Brocato is a familiar face within the district, having most recently served as the interim Chief Financial Officer. In that capacity, he gained firsthand insight into the district’s specific clinical and financial landscape, overseeing strategic growth initiatives and optimizing complex budgetary frameworks.
Dr. Anthony brings a unique community first perspective to this role. His blend of financial expertise and operational leadership is exactly what is needed to ensure long-term organizational excellence for our community.
A Legacy of Leadership and Service
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps (1987–1995), and served in desert shield/storm, Dr. Brocato’s leadership style is defined by accountability, transparency, and a "lead by example" philosophy. His academic credentials are equally distinguished; he recently earned a Doctor of Science in Healthcare Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). His doctoral research focused specifically on the strategic adaptation and financial performance of Critical Access Hospitals—expertise that is directly applicable to the challenges facing rural healthcare today.
Dr. Brocato also holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Athens State University. His professional background spans hospital systems, primary and specialty care clinics, home health and hospice agencies, and rural healthcare networks, with a specialized focus on revenue cycle excellence capital project execution.
A Voice for Rural Health
Beyond the walls of the hospital, Dr. Brocato is a steadfast advocate for rural healthcare. He previously served on the Texas Medicaid Advisory Committee and frequently utilizes his background in government relations to lobby for rural health interests at higher levels of government.
His approach to hospital administration emphasizes "building bridges" between administrative staff and medical providers. Dr. Brocato is known for an open-door policy, fostering a workplace culture rooted in ethics, loyalty, and the professional development of his leadership team.
Deep Roots in the Community
Having grown up in a small-town Dr. Brocato understands that a hospital is the heart of a community. Dr. Anthony Brocato and his wife, Amanda, are eager to fully integrate into the Springfield community. Amanda is excited to become a part of the quilting community and Anthony—a former Rotarian and Lions Club member—plans to join local civic organizations such as the Lions Club.
The couple has been married for 12 years and shares a large family that includes four children, five grandchildren, and three beloved dogs. When he isn’t at the hospital, Dr. Brocato enjoys finding peace outdoors—fishing, gardening, or relaxing on his tractor
