POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Long-Term Care Center & Alzheimer’s Unit to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administer, direct and coordinate the patient care activities in accordance with accepted standards.
• Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department reviewing and revising as necessary.
• Participates in District health matters/projects as appropriate.
• Conduct pre-admission and admission interviews or screening as appropriate with residents and future residents.
• Liaisons with residents, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for resident needs.
• Collects, analyzes, and manages data.
• Is knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in Long-Term Care.
• Investigates and responds to incident reports, gathers data, and resolve issues.
• Work jointly with Administrator on Resident related issues.
• Completely required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Oversee the development, implementation, and management of department’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement plan.
• Coordinates staff meetings and care conferences.
• Provides direct care of a staff nurse as necessary.
• Assists in the planning and evacuation of residents.
• Responsible for developing, managing and operating within the budget and assures compliance by monitoring budgetary reports.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, orientating; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance evaluations; rewarding, counseling and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to SECHD’s Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Requires current Registered Nurse License in Colorado in good standing.
• CPR certificate.
• Experience in Long Term Care and working with geriatrics.
• Must have two (2) years supervisory experience in a post-acute care or related setting.

.Preferred Qualifications:
• BSN desirable or have five years of comprehensive administrative and supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires strong managerial and people skills, excellent verbal and written communication, strong planning, motivating, and decision-making skills, as well as creativity and good telephone skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. The ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks is required.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to regularly talk or hear. Frequently required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift, handle and/or move up to 30 pounds. Frequent push/pulling or twisting/turning motion. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
Occasional: 1% - 33% of activity; Frequent: 34% - 66% of activity; Continuous: 67% - 100% of activity.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be professional, flexible, caring, and compassionate and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward residents and guests. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, their families and staff members. Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information. Requires working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Frequent exposures common to clinical environment such as medical preparations and toxic substances. Occasional exposure to ionizing radiation.
