Controller
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller supports the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing all fiscal services for the hospital district. This position is responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to ensure the financial health of the organization. The Controller plays a key leadership role in budgeting, forecasting, and decision support.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

• Lead and supervise accounting department procedures ensuring proper cash controls and segregation of duties.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Oversee preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead the annual budget process in accordance with state, local, and external agency regulations.
• Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual results; present findings and recommendations to leadership as requested.
• Support the CFO in long-range financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
• Manage internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely responses and compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and procedures across fiscal services team, including Patient Financial Services, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Materials Management.
• Partner with leadership across the hospital to improve efficiency, manage costs, and support operational goals.
• Evaluate staff performance, assign responsibilities, and promote professional development.
• Provide financial guidance to leadership, Board of Directors, and external CPA partners as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not currently provide direct supervision of other staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Knowledge of GAAP and strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
• Master’s degree and/or CPA certification.
• Experience in healthcare finance, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital or similar healthcare setting.

Position Type : Full Time
Shift : Day
Salary: $68,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
